There may not be a tropical storm system on our horizon, but now is the time to ensure that you’re prepared if the hurricane activity predicted this year actually impacts northeast or east-central Florida.
There are likely many things on your checklist, and one of those should be resources you can turn to for flood predictions, real-time water level information and flooding assistance. The St. Johns River Water Management District has a web page that includes a multitude of storm-related resources, and I encourage you to bookmark floridaswater.com/storm for use during the season. Among the resources on the page are links to the National Weather Service, National Hurricane Center, local government flooding contacts, and real-time U.S. Geological Survey river stage information. Think of it as one-stop shopping for resources you may need before, during and after major storms.
Remember that hurricane season lasts until Nov. 30, so it’s a good idea to be prepared now for that fairly lengthy season.
