A public meeting will be held Feb. 25 on a permit application being considered for a sturgeon fish farm near Melrose. The special meeting will provide the public with an opportunity to share their thoughts on the application before a decision is made.
The meeting about the Little Big Sturgeon Farm application will be at 5 p.m. at the St. Johns River Water Management District headquarters in Palatka.
The applicant proposes to withdraw 250,000 gallons per day of groundwater from the Floridan aquifer.
The Gainesville Sun recently published a story detailing some of the related issues.
